The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. SC Braga's Amado Parente managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Cosimo Avesani in the 3 minute of the game. Alberto Andreola was out of position in the 4 minute of play, and Stig-Åke Mattsson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Stig-Åke Mattsson really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. The audience was convinced that Edoardo Rinaldi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Laçın Cumayev was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. In the 12th minute, Stig-Åke Mattsson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alberto Andreola. The goal made the score 2-0. After 15 minutes, Dino Saurø mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Valdieri and the SC Braga players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 16th minute of the match Charl De Metser sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alberto Andreola skillfully saved the ball. SC Braga made a substitution. Quintino Carvalhais replaced Valdomiro Lira. After 23 played minutes Valdieri got a freekick which was hit by Edoardo Rinaldi. In the 24th minute, SC Braga's Stig-Åke Mattsson dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. 35 minutes into the game, Stig-Åke Mattsson recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Alberto Andreola. Stig-Åke Mattsson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-0. If Antonio Cieri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cosimo Avesani made in the 42nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by SC Braga's Amado Parente. In the 45th minute, Stig-Åke Mattsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alberto Andreola was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 7-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Edoardo Rinaldi made the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Amado Parente got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 64 minutes, Stig-Åke Mattsson made it 9-0 with a short kick to the right side. Valdieri's Alberto Andreola tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 67 minutes of play, SC Braga's Antonio Cieri made it 10-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alberto Andreola was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 70th match minute, Valdieri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dino Saurø to maneuver through the defense. SC Braga made a substitution. Zigmantas Gimbutas replaced Stig-Åke Mattsson. SC Braga made a substitution. André Jordão replaced Geraldo Lucas. A collision led to Valdieri getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Dino Saurø hit a great ball. 78 minutes into the match, Valdieri's goal looked a bit too open when Zigmantas Gimbutas came free, but Alberto Andreola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 82ndth minute of the game Zigmantas Gimbutas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Valdieri's Alberto Andreola was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 83rd minute, Antonio Cieri ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alberto Andreola was frozen by the shot and now it was 11-0. Antonio Cieri blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alberto Andreola having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Valdieri's zone, Zigmantas Gimbutas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alberto Andreola came out of the goal and Zigmantas Gimbutas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alberto Andreola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eraldo Ippoliti during the 90th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 90 played minutes Valdieri got a freekick which was hit by Eraldo Ippoliti. Alfonso Aloisi kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. After having played for 95 minutes, Antonio Cieri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Braga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antonio Cieri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. SC Braga's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
