Washington de Lara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaizka Mendieta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Pentti Ojala's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Washington de Lara was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and André Maraschin made a kick off. Tirense F.C.'s Adrian Onbera managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Walter Baß in the 53 minute of the game. Washington de Lara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pentti Ojala in the 55th minute. Pentti Ojala could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Washington de Lara made a huge save.
