Narciso Oinatz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 15th minute of the match. In the 18th minute, Chorroarín's Guillermo Mitxaut ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Julio Vera. Chorroarín's Narciso Oinatz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Guillermo Mitxaut got free with Julio Vera in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Chorroarín was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alvaro Aquino didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee ignored Chorroarín's protests and gave Alvaro Aquino a yellow card for diving instead. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timoteo Arotza, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, Chorroarín could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
