The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alberto Gisbert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 8 minutes into the match, Tamboril's Loïc Duprey sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquin Gayoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Loïc Duprey's late challenge caught a Uruguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Loïc Duprey helped the player get up and apologised. Loïc Duprey hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cristian Teles during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 12 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Tamboril! Frank Netto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximiliano Escribano in the 16th minute of the match. In the 18th minute, Francisco Seco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 25 minutes, Camilo Covarrubias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Uruguay and the Tamboril players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 45th minute of the match, Loïc Duprey tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Joaquin Gayoso saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line.

The wind increased when Waldir Cearense made the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Waldir Cearense during the 55th minute. With a little luck, Tamboril's Frank Netto got control of the ball when Francisco Seco tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Waldir Cearense in the 64th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christiano Freitas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franklin Salgado in the 83rd minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Tamboril's Enrique Berger. But to his dismay, Enrique Berger quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Francisco Seco got free with Frank Netto in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Uruguay walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
