Spectators: 42 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gianluigi Donnarumma was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Cristian Sancho put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Gianluigi Donnarumma. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cipriano Ganix fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bela Herrero in the 12th minute. PERSPOLIS's Gianluigi Donnarumma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 13th minute of play. Facundo Feria who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 14thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 20 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gianluigi Donnarumma narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after PERSPOLIS's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gianluigi Donnarumma quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Gianluigi Donnarumma showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in PERSPOLIS's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gianluigi Donnarumma came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 33rd minute, Enrico Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 36th minute of play forced PERSPOLIS's goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Facundo Feria could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 44th minute. 45 minutes into the match, Facundo Feria dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Julio Vera, 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 50th minute, Facundo Feria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, PERSPOLIS's Gianluigi Donnarumma got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Facundo Feria's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Bela Herrero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cordarell Guasch hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Felix Montenegros short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Gianluigi Donnarumma to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 78 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ingmar Bergman came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. PERSPOLIS's Gianluigi Donnarumma proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save PERSPOLIS from getting a goal against them. In the 82nd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. PERSPOLIS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gianluigi Donnarumma quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Cipriano Ganix struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PERSPOLIS. PERSPOLIS's Pedro León was substituted for Bela Herrero. In the 89th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. PERSPOLIS succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
