Gerazan Pujana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Grzegorz Karpiak was out of position in the 53 minute of play, and Tomas Illescas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Guillermo Mariano hit a great ball. Johan Fagrell might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Johan Fagrell ran back to his position shaking his head. 62 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Gerazan Pujana came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
