Peru's Julian Murillo got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ronaldinho Gaucho came free with the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Rolando Noboa could save by the left post. In the 24th match minute, Joinville City - FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henrique Camargo to maneuver through the defense. Haji Sarap took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luz Tejedor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A sloppy throw-in by Drew Zaelani in the 32nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Alonso Berganza. 44 minutes had been played when some careless play by Joinville City - FSCMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Haji Sarap made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Haji Sarap in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geovanildo Luis in the 55th minute of play. Joinville City - FSCMZ made a substitution. Adhemar Santos replaced Geovanildo Luis. Joinville City - FSCMZ's Haji Sarap proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Joinville City - FSCMZ from getting a goal against them. Haji Sarap was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Julian Murillo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 75 minute of play. 83 minutes into the game, Adhemar Santos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Joinville City - FSCMZ's Haji Sarap played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Mina in the 92nd minute of play. With a little luck, Joinville City - FSCMZ's Haji Sarap got control of the ball when Rafael Gallo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horácio Abraão in the 96th minute of play. Joinville City - FSCMZ succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Peru had controlled the match.
