After 19 minutes Costa Rica's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Pedro Luís Alvarenga who took care of the corner kick. With his leg Benito Sanz managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when Floripa Lions FSCMZ's Luiz Gustavo do Valle fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Luiz Gustavo do Valle took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Benito Sanz to make any attempt to save it. Costa Rica's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Luiz Gustavo do Valle 37 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 4-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Floripa Lions FSCMZ's Luiz Gustavo do Valle slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Benito Sanz. That made the score 5-0 after 44 minutes of play. Through an outstanding action, after 47 minutes, Benito Sanz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luiz Gustavo do Valle made a kick off. Floripa Lions FSCMZ's Luiz Gustavo do Valle got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. Hugo Ferrant hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Luiz Gustavo do Valle might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luiz Gustavo do Valle ran back to his position shaking his head. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Gustavo do Valle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Floripa Lions FSCMZ fans' excitement grew in the 67th match minute when Floripa Lions FSCMZ's Luiz Gustavo do Valle looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 7-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Hortêncio Montenegro scored 8-0 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 78th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lautaro Puig to maneuver through the defense. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Floripa Lions FSCMZ had played much better football throughout.
