The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bo Cantona to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute, Lorenzo Cazalla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 52 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Miran Tudor came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dante Lacasa was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Börje Forsberg in the 58th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
