Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vasko Stepanov in the 17th minute of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC LEVSKI ОК was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vasko Stepanov didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 22nd minute of play forced FC LEVSKI ОК's goalkeeper Dorel Călin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. FC LEVSKI ОК's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 28th minute. Peycho Zheynov's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 33rdth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. FC LEVSKI ОК's Peycho Zheynov got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dorel Călin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of the match. 47 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Stavri Drakev came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Cristian Sancho kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dorel Călin. That made the score 0-1 in the 51 minute of play. In the 55th minute Stavri Drakev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 60 played minutes FC LEVSKI ОК got a freekick which was hit by Nico Ota. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorel Călin having to interfere. FC LEVSKI ОК's Dorel Călin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 65th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Peycho Zheynov in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. In the 72nd minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Stavri Drakev went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After 81 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. Chris Rea's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chris Rea helped the player get up and apologised. In the 82nd minute, Chris Rea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 94th minute. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dorel Călin quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
