Lanús's Roberto Puch managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Efrain Moruga in the 8 minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 9th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eliseo Noboa during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastián Olivarez in the 16th minute of play. After some careless play in the Lanús defense, Lautaro Puig kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benjamin Venceslas. The Lanús fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benjamin Venceslas should have stopped the shot. In the 22nd minute, Axel Tasis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Costa Rica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Lanús's Roberto Puch quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Abel Carballo, made in the 26th minute of the game. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Lautaro Puig hit a great ball. Sebastián Olivarez took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Lanús's attentive Roberto Puch managed to snatch the ball when Efrain Moruga made a throw-in in the 40th minute of the game. Alexander Carballo was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 41 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Costa Rica fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 41st minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Benito Sanz, was totally fooled by Lanús's 范枫青, who 43 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jonathan Chien-Kwan in the 45th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eliseo Noboa to strike the kick off in the second half. Lanús's attentive Jake Hursey managed to snatch the ball when Hugo Ferrant made a throw-in in the 53rd minute of the game. Lanús's Roberto Puch managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Efrain Moruga in the 56 minute of the game. In the 57th minute Sebastián Olivarez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 60 minutes into the game, Lanús's Sebastián Olivarez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. 63 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastián Olivarez came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 65 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Noboa. If Sebastián Olivarez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Chien-Kwan in the 73rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Puig was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benjamin Venceslas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Lanús getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Eloy Gaskon hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Abel Carballo got a free kick in the 81st minute. A sloppy throw-in by Efrain Moruga in the 84th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Lanús's Roberto Puch. Benjamin Venceslas was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Eliseo Noboa showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-3 in the 86 minute of play. Benjamin Venceslas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Noboa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Despite being the better team, Lanús failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
