When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Evelio Pes made a kick off. Daniel Zorita's late challenge caught a Club Sportivo Italiano's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Zorita helped the player get up and apologised. Daniel Zorita hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute of the match Basilio Araoz shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reynaldo Stephen having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Evelio Pes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Reynaldo Stephen in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Antonio Arias got a free kick in the 78th minute. In the 79th minute of the match Luisito Bikendi sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. After 83 played minutes Club Sportivo Italiano got a freekick which was hit by Basilio Araoz. After having played for 85 minutes, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 86 played minutes Club Sportivo Italiano got a freekick which was hit by Leon Egun. Club Sportivo Italiano's Reynaldo Stephen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 88th minute of play. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evelio Pes in the 95th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
