Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) In the 5th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cveto Novinec saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Cveto Novinec tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. FC Koper's Cveto Novinec played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Minas Markomichalis during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to FC Koper getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Minas Markomichalis hit a great ball. Cveto Novinec made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a free kick in the 28th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cveto Novinec breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

52 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Koper's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The supporters of FC Koper booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manos Labrou, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 69th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Cveto Novinec was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
