After having played for 5 minutes, Jorg Pieters managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorg Pieters was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 7 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Isidoro Beltran. Through an outstanding action, after 11 minutes, Jonathan Ferrant successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Camilo Gaos hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Jorg Pieters could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. If Albano Bertol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. 24 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Isidoro Beltran came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Independiente fans' excitement grew in the 28th match minute when Independiente's Isidoro Beltran looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Mateo Mendez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Isidoro Beltran in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Independiente's Jorg Pieters slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 3-0 after 41 minutes of play. 44 minutes into the match, Mateo Mendez notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Isidoro Beltran made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Beltran in the 54th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorg Pieters in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 58th minute Jorg Pieters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Isidoro Beltran in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 60 minutes, Isidoro Beltran made it 5-0 with a short kick to the right side. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Pepe Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorg Pieters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 70 minutes into the game, Independiente's Sören Bengtsson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. Independiente made a substitution. Serafín Berganza replaced Albano Bertol. Isidoro Beltran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorg Pieters in the 77th minute of play. Isidoro Beltran's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorg Pieters in the 92nd minute of play. In the 94th minute, Isidoro Beltran made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-0.
