The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 25 minutes into the match, Club Sportivo Quilmes's goal looked a bit too open when Alejo Maties came free, but Pastor Firman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eleuterio Maureo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Edmílson Martins showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 30 minute of play. River de Ramos Mejía's Eleuterio Maureo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Verón in the 33rd minute of play. Club Sportivo Quilmes's Sebastian Verón managed to work through River de Ramos Mejía's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Sebastian Verón dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The crowd rose to their feet as Club Sportivo Quilmes's Radomil Mietus slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Eleuterio Maureo. That made the score 3-0 after 36 minutes of play. Pastor Firman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabriel-Omar Batistuta in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Verón in the 44th minute of play forced River de Ramos Mejía's goalkeeper Eleuterio Maureo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 45 minutes into the match, River de Ramos Mejía's goalkeeper Eleuterio Maureo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Radomil Mietus. Eleuterio Maureo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnold Ponk, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Celestino Eli was slow to take the kick. During this time River de Ramos Mejía's players had a chance to rest. The corner led River de Ramos Mejía's Celestino Eli to fire away a dangerous shot which Pastor Firman despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Eleuterio Maureo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastian Verón, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Pastor Firman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alejo Maties in the 64th minute of the match. 67 minutes into the game, Radomil Mietus cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Edmílson Martins scored 6-0 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eleuterio Maureo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 92nd minute Angelo Grabiel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pastor Firman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Club Sportivo Quilmes fully deserved thier win.
