Abram Luque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Ramos having to interfere. Abram Luque struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Marco Ramos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El Salvador. If Abram Luque had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Moises Fernandino sped through Botafogo MZRJ's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marco Ramos. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Marco Tamayo hit a great ball. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo de Amorim in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 23rd minute Botafogo MZRJ were awarded a corner. Zé Roberto Paranaense went to the cornerflag to take it. Abram Luque sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 31st match minute, Botafogo MZRJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Roberto Paranaense to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd minute, Moises Fernandino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Abram Luque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Ramos having to interfere. 48 minutes into the match, Rodriguinho Viana notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rodriguinho Viana to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 59th minute, Paulo de Amorim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Moises Fernandino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rodriguinho Viana in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ricardo Zorita saved El Salvador from getting behind. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Moises Fernandino got a free kick in the 74th minute. Zé Roberto Paranaense charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zé Roberto Paranaense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Edgard Reis made in the 84th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by El Salvador's Luis Rubio. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodriguinho Viana in the 86th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodriguinho Viana in the 88th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Ramos made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Moises Fernandino sent off a good shot on target. In the 94th minute, Zé Roberto Paranaense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Botafogo MZRJ succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though El Salvador had controlled the match.
