After 36 played minutes AZ Sidion Gravina got a freekick which was hit by Arnoud Nelis. 37 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 43 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Qi Fei in the 44th minute of play. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 45thth minute, when AZ Sidion Gravina's Qi Fei fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Beppe Natalucci. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. AZ Sidion Gravina's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Beppe Natalucci quite easily take care of the ball. In the 73rd minute Qi Fei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of AZ Sidion Gravina's Beppe Natalucci. Beppe Natalucci was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. AZ Sidion Gravina made a substitution. Elia Ciarrocchi replaced Eustacio Cordarrol.
