Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Damian Urki got the match started through his kick off. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aki Guardo in the 6th minute of the match. LUIZ PANATO's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gualter Camargo in the 7th minute. The corner ended in Gualter Camargo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. In the 10th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Guto Taffarel. LUIZ PANATO's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After a rather tough play, LUIZ PANATO's Damian Urki got a free kick in the 30th minute. Aki Guardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 36 minutes into the match, LUIZ PANATO's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Guto Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Guto Taffarel. Guto Taffarel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. When Damian Urki came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the LUIZ PANATO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Damian Urki couldn't finish the play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The LUIZ PANATO players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-2.
The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes LUIZ PANATO got a freekick which was hit by Fellipe Cardozo. Guto Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58th minute, Tostão Reis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aki Guardo in the 60th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aki Guardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Aki Guardo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Aki Guardo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice moves Felix Montenegro could shoot a difficult shot in the 68th minute, which Guto Taffarel however easily saved by the left post. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zhao Yue Cheng, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aki Guardo in the 70th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute LUIZ PANATO were awarded a corner. Gualter Camargo went to the cornerflag to take it. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zhao Yue Cheng in the 76th minute of play. 77 minutes into the game, LUIZ PANATO's Aki Guardo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Damian Urki stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Damian Urki tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 87 minutes LUIZ PANATO's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Guto Taffarel despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After having played for 96 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The LUIZ PANATO fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
