Thanks to some nice moves Hitzeder Manrique could shoot a difficult shot in the 45th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. A collision led to Boca Juniors getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Olaf Varela hit a great ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Jacinto Cuadrado came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rolando Amorebieta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Boca Juniors's Diego Napier was substituted for Gabriel Martinelli. 73 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Rolando Amorebieta came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hitzeder Manrique took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hitzeder Manrique in the 90th minute of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Jacinto Cuadrado made a huge save. The Ecuador players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
