An unexpectedly hard shot by Froilan Iaki in the 9th minute of play forced Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goalkeeper Mané Viana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Máté Márton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Kopacz in the 11th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by João Augusto Lopes during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Máté Márton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adam Kopacz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlinhos de Brito struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Máté Márton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ. Mané Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Froilan Iaki, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Máté Márton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Kopacz in the 25th minute of play. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Carlinhos de Brito got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 31 minutes had been played when some careless play by Congo Bongo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Chico de Brito was slow to take the kick. During this time Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's players had a chance to rest. If Damaso Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 37 played minutes Congo Bongo got a freekick which was hit by Caleb Law. Chico de Brito didn't quite understand what happened when in the 39 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. After a defensive mix-up in Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's zone, Damaso Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mané Viana came out of the goal and Damaso Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 47 minutes into the game, Damaso Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Mané Viana was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Damaso Sancho made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Kopacz in the 58th minute of play forced Congo Bongo's goalkeeper Máté Márton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 60 minutes into the game, Charis Markas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Congo Bongo the free kick. In the 62nd minute, João Augusto Lopes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Damaso Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Mané Viana made a huge save. After 64 minutes Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sergio Austin who took care of the corner kick. Congo Bongo's Sergio Austin was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Mané Viana in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Máté Márton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlinhos de Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlinhos de Brito in the 73rd minute of play forced Congo Bongo's goalkeeper Máté Márton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Froilan Iaki in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mané Viana saved Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ from getting behind. 78 minutes into the match, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goal looked a bit too open when Froilan Iaki came free, but Mané Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Carlinhos de Brito got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ made a substitution. Jano Donato replaced Carlinhos de Brito. Froilan Iaki recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. João Augusto Lopes hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. If Froilan Iaki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mané Viana made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Damaso Sancho sent off a good shot on target. The Congo Bongo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Congo Bongo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
