After 44 played minutes Santa Maradona got a freekick which was hit by Felix Ibar. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Maradona's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Errapel came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodolfo Cordeiro got free with Julio Vera in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laureano Sustrai in the 48th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santa Maradona were awarded a corner in the 49th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Haroldo Martxot took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Haroldo Martxot got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

At last the ball reached Felix Montenegro at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Santa Maradona. 0-2. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Santa Maradona throughout the match.
