In the 14th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacek Matuch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, SV Bad Harzburg's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Jacek Matuch reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rolando Noboa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Éthan Pichard went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Jacek Matuch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Julian Murillo in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacek Matuch saved SV Bad Harzburg from getting behind. With his leg Rolando Noboa managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when SV Bad Harzburg's Jurek Ohrem fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Jurek Ohrem managed to get in a good position for a shot. SV Bad Harzburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Jurek Ohrem was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rolando Noboa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Luz Tejedor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Éthan Pichard in the 35th minute of play. Jacek Matuch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 37th minute of play. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Roberto Carlos, made in the 41st minute of the game. Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. Kaimo Liiva's late challenge caught a Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kaimo Liiva helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to SV Bad Harzburg getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Kaimo Liiva hit a great ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

A sloppy throw-in by Roberto Carlos in the 52nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Eliseo Mina. The supporters of Peru booed when SV Bad Harzburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mathias Schulten didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 67th minute of play forced SV Bad Harzburg's goalkeeper Jacek Matuch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Roberto Carlos in the 84 minute of the game.
