Nacho Gonzalez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 14th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Julian Murillo in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nacho Gonzalez saved El Gallo de Moron from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emiliano Rodera in the 16th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luisinho Laguna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. In the 22nd minute, Julian Murillo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nacho Gonzalez was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luisinho Laguna got free with Rolando Noboa in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 30 minutes into the match, Luisinho Laguna notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Peru's Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 33 minutes into the match, Peru's Eliseo Mina sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nacho Gonzalez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Emiliano Rodera to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Milagros Fraga made a precise shot to the right of Nacho Gonzalez. El Gallo de Moron's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. In the 60th minute Emiliano Rodera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisinho Laguna in the 63rd minute of play. Nacho Gonzalez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luz Tejedor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 74th match minute, El Gallo de Moron was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilberto Ihazintu to maneuver through the defense. In the 97th minute of the match Peru got a corner. El Gallo de Moron's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Eliseo Mina ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Peru's corner Eliseo Mina fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nacho Gonzalez quite easily take care of the ball. El Gallo de Moron's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
