But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivan Toromanov couldn't finish the play. In the 10th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes into the match, Paun Atkov had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paun Atkov was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Paun Atkov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. In the 21st minute Venko Petrov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. 27 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paun Atkov. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Zhao Hai Gang made in the 34th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Paun Atkov immediately put the ball in play. After a rather tough play, FC Bansko's Bratan Rogev got a free kick in the 38th minute.

FC Bansko's supporters crossed their fingers, but Venko Petrov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paun Atkov in the 62nd minute of play. Venko Petrov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Bratan Rogev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Bansko made a substitution. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Venko Petrov in the 85th minute of the match. If Venko Petrov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
