Ronnys Lärjungar's Patrik Ahlrot suffered a concussion in the 12th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. 12 minutes into the game, Lorenzo Cazalla was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mexico's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ronnys Lärjungar the free kick. Edvin Bruhn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 17th minute of the match. In the 18th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edvin Bruhn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edvin Bruhn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lautaro Mancebo ran back to his position shaking his head. Joel Gaona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edvin Bruhn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Kjell-Arne Skott took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Dante Lacasa to make any attempt to save it. 30 minutes into the match, Ronnys Lärjungar's George Esbjörnsson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dante Lacasa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sverker Björk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after Ronnys Lärjungar's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Luca Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Edvin Bruhn quite easily take care of the ball. Sverker Björks short, quick shot in the 43rdth minute got Dante Lacasa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 3-0 became the score in the 44th minute when Sverker Björk elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.
