After some careless play in the Go Ahead Eagles defense, Alvaro Filippini kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Douwe Velez. The Go Ahead Eagles fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Douwe Velez should have stopped the shot. In the 12th minute, Tom de Mol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 13th minute, Emanuele Michelini made a precise shot to the right of Douwe Velez. Go Ahead Eagles's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. A collision led to Go Ahead Eagles getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Lukas Klooster hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Biagio Chiappini in the 21st minute of play forced Go Ahead Eagles's goalkeeper Douwe Velez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruud Rodenberg in the 23rd minute of play forced F.C. Parrots's goalkeeper Bianco Graziani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Cosimo Petrosino fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C. Parrots's protests and gave Cosimo Petrosino a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Go Ahead Eagles booed when F.C. Parrots was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cosimo Petrosino didn't get a good kick on the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Go Ahead Eagles's Gert Boezeman broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Alvaro Filippini put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Douwe Velez. After a defensive mix-up in Go Ahead Eagles's zone, Biagio Chiappini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Douwe Velez came out of the goal and Biagio Chiappini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bianco Graziani made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Jhon de Kort sent off a good shot on target. Bianco Graziani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruud Rodenberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 48 minutes of play, Go Ahead Eagles's Jhon de Kort made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bianco Graziani was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alvaro Filippini made a kick off. A collision led to Go Ahead Eagles getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Mathijs Teunisse hit a great ball. F.C. Parrots's Bianco Graziani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jhon de Kort in the 55th minute of play. F.C. Parrots's Alvaro Filippini got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Diego Santoro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62ndth minute of the game Jhon de Kort who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but F.C. Parrots's Bianco Graziani was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 63rd minute, Emanuele Michelini left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The F.C. Parrots fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. F.C. Parrots's Bianco Graziani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruud Rodenberg in the 67th minute of play. When F.C. Douwe Velez was a little too slow when Alvaro Filippini got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 76th minute. The score was now 1-5. Douwe Velez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Biagio Chiappini in the 85th minute of play. F.C. Parrots played a much better game than Go Ahead Eagles and deserved their victory. The Go Ahead Eagles players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
