The audience thought a goal was coming when Téo Toledo got free with Julio Vera in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the last second Julio Vera throw himself and got hold of the ball when Téo Toledo in the 15thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Bazar Alegria E.C. FSCMZ were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gero Mitov took the corner. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorge Loyola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agustín Saelices in the 20th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Bazar Alegria E.C. Petter Bivall might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Petter Bivall ran back to his position shaking his head. FSCMZ players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 1-3.

The wind increased when Téo Toledo made the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Juan Sebastián Puig during the 50th minute.
