An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 22nd minute of play forced Leon Platense's goalkeeper Ruperto Rainerio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Honduras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Leon Platense the free kick. After 44 played minutes Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Milagros Cabal. Ivan Navarro kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

There was no doubt that Leon Platense were the better team. Leon Platense's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
