After some careless play in the Club Atletico Los Andes defense, Julian Murillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dochko Rodev. The Club Atletico Los Andes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dochko Rodev should have stopped the shot. Club Atletico Los Andes's Dochko Rodev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 12th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Julian Murillo in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dochko Rodev saved Club Atletico Los Andes from getting behind. After taking down the ball on Peru's corner Luz Tejedor fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Dochko Rodev quite easily take care of the ball. After the first half Peru were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kim Lekberg made a kick off. With a little luck, Club Atletico Los Andes's Dochko Rodev got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kaj Skager in the 64th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 68th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dochko Rodev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Eliseo Mina came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kaj Skager was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Dochko Rodev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Gallo in the 93rd minute of play. The Peru supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Peru would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
