Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hortêncio Barral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hortêncio Barral having to interfere. 10 minutes into the match, Luis Andino notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Sport Clube Recife's Hortêncio Barral. Hortêncio Barral was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sport Clube Recife's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Nestor Neto in the 15th minute. The corner ended in Nestor Neto almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. After some careless play in the Sport Clube Recife defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hortêncio Barral. The Sport Clube Recife fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hortêncio Barral should have stopped the shot. Mauro Rocha hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Hortêncio Barral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of play. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hortêncio Barral read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Roger Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Camilo Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hortêncio Barral. Hortêncio Barral dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Daniel Zorita scored 0-4 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hortêncio Barral, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hortêncio Barral having to make a save. After 40 minutes of play, Ecuador's Luis Andino made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hortêncio Barral was left in no man's land by his defense there! Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Hortêncio Barral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hortêncio Barral having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Roger Silveira to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Sport Clube Recife got a freekick which was hit by Mauro Rocha. After 53 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hortêncio Barral came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hortêncio Barral having to interfere. 60 minutes into the match, Sport Clube Recife's goalkeeper Hortêncio Barral had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Hortêncio Barral in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hortêncio Barral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. 69 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hortêncio Barral made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Hortêncio Barral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Felix Montenegro took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hortêncio Barral. Hortêncio Barral dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hortêncio Barral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 86th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Sport Clube Recife was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilson Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 91st match minute, Sport Clube Recife was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Noel Cavalcante to maneuver through the defense. Sport Clube Recife's Hortêncio Barral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Sport Clube Recife from getting a goal against them. In the 95th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
