A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Alberto Tafalla hit a great ball. In the 38th minute, Jacobo Porfirio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lance Cabezas hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. Carlinhos Freitas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After 53 minutes AA GUARULHOS's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 54th minute. The corner ended in Joel Gaona almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but AA GUARULHOS's Carlinhos Freitas did a great save. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lance Cabezas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Remigio Finlay in the 66th minute of the match. After 67 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Facundo Cadaval. A nice corner shot did that Jacobo Porfirio got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dante Lacasa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 83rd minute of the game Macos Graciani made a throw-in which Joel Gaona played forward. With an all-out effort, Mexico's Carlinhos Freitas threw himself towards the right post 86 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luca Zorita, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 88th minute of play forced AA GUARULHOS's goalkeeper Carlinhos Freitas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 95 minutes into the match, AA GUARULHOS's goalkeeper Carlinhos Freitas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Facundo Cadaval. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Mexico players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
