After 13 played minutes De Pelgrims got a freekick which was hit by Mathias de Ruijter. In the 14th minute, Milagros Fraga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mathias de Ruijter in the 18th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julian Murillo in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mike Zoetmulder prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 21st play minutes Julian Murillo shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Mike Zoetmulder and just under the crossbar into goal. 24 minutes into the game, Mathias de Ruijter recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rolando Noboa. Mike Zoetmulder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 27th minute of play. 30 minutes in the game Zé Pedro Figueiredo did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Twan Mol. Mike Zoetmulder showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 33rd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mike Zoetmulder was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Julian Murillo made the kick off in the second half. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Perivaldo Eger in the 51st minute of play. Mike Zoetmulder made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luz Tejedor in the 55th minute. After a rather tough play, Peru's Efraim Gilabert got a free kick in the 57th minute. Milagros Fraga came free with the goalkeeper in the 60th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Mike Zoetmulder could save by the left post. But to his dismay, Mathias de Ruijter quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Mike Zoetmulder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Gallo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquin Prats could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Mike Zoetmulder made a huge save. The De Pelgrims support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
