The corner led Queluzito's Percy Cabral to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Queluzito's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Paulo José Rodrigues reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nando Lima to make the kick off. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of Paulo José Rodrigues when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 55th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo José Rodrigues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mazinho Lara hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 60th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Paulo José Rodrigues. Queluzito's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Queluzito's Paulo José Rodrigues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 62nd minute of play. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Paulo José Rodrigues firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 77 played minutes Queluzito got a freekick which was hit by Percy Cabral. Paulo José Rodrigues didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. In the 88th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Queluzito's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Tomé Cerezo kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Paulo José Rodrigues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Paulo José Rodrigues tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Queluzito fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
