After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Mattias Sawyer quite easily take care of the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Leonardo Leoz in the 19th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Memphis Grizzlies's Grant Andrews. Grant Andrews kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 44th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mattias Sawyer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ty Hislop in the 52nd minute of play. Mattias Sawyer made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 97 minutes Mexico's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Nicky Sansom who took care of the corner kick. Mexico's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
