Albert Rutledge who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 7thth minute tested the skills of Jonathan Ferrant when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 14th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Osvald Uter kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 1-0 in the 15 minute of play. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Jens-Ove Abrahamsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. LA VIOLA's supporters rose to their feet, but Jens-Ove Abrahamsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 29 minutes into the match, Albert Rutledge dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant, 2-0. In the 32nd minute, Albert Rutledge hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albert Rutledge in the 35th minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Albert Rutledge came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 36th minute of play forced LA VIOLA's goalkeeper Felix Martinsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. LA VIOLA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sune Dahlberg in the 39th minute. Jerry Stabbe was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. The supporters of LA VIOLA booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. Venezuela were awarded a corner in the 52th minute after LA VIOLA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tomas Illescas took the corner. Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Felix Martinsson in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvald Uter in the 54th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 56 minutes into the match, LA VIOLA's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Costa came free, but Felix Martinsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rigoberto Mina's late challenge caught a LA VIOLA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rigoberto Mina helped the player get up and apologised. Rigoberto Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. In the 68th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albert Rutledge, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of LA VIOLA booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 75th minute Albert Rutledge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. LA VIOLA's Albert Rutledge got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 92nd minute, Camilo Gaos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
