Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Cristiano Messi sent off a good shot on target. The throw-in from Guillermo Mariano in the 5th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Corinthians's Leopoldo Palmeira. Ignacy Kinic kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. Cristiano Messi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. 11 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jiang Yi Chong was slow to take the kick. During this time Corinthians's players had a chance to rest. After 12 played minutes Corinthians got a freekick which was hit by Iván Urtzi. Jaime Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 16th minute of the match. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Cristiano Messi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 1-0 in the 19 minute of play. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 31 minutes into the game, Corinthians's Cristiano Messi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. 35 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jaime Almeida narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 36 minutes had been played when some careless play by Corinthians's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristiano Messi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. González Speed hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

In the 52nd minute Cristiano Messi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Messi in the 58th minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Corinthians's Cristiano Messi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 66 minutes into the game, Cristiano Messi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 89 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Guillermo Mariano. 92 minutes into the match, Corinthians's Rubinho de Lara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Corinthians getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Iván Urtzi hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Corinthians's Şensoy Sualp got a free kick in the 99th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Corinthians's zone, Patricio Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jaime Almeida came out of the goal and Patricio Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Corinthians's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
