Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kazimierz Dulemba read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. Kazimierz Dulemba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 10th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Kanalie was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Radomir Dyczkowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kazimierz Dulemba having to interfere. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olaf Mis in the 15th minute of play. After 16 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jaroslaw Bambas who took care of the corner kick. 18 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Kazimierz Dulemba was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jan Gargasz's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jan Gargasz helped the player get up and apologised. Jan Gargasz hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kazimierz Dulemba having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kazimierz Dulemba was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. In the 32nd minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Kazimierz Dulemba. Kanalie's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kazimierz Dulemba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kazimierz Dulemba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Kazimierz Dulemba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kazimierz Dulemba. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Kanalie's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 54 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kazimierz Dulemba. Kanalie's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felix Montenegro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-6. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kazimierz Dulemba came out and tried to block the shot, but Daniel Zorita slotted it home off the left post making it 0-7 in the 62nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kazimierz Dulemba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Kazimierz Dulemba made a huge save. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kazimierz Dulemba having to make a save. Kazimierz Dulemba was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-9 in the 78 minute of play. Kazimierz Dulemba came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 96 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
