Hansen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. De hijgende Hertjes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brian Charles T. Hansen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 32 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Ferman came free, but Ricardo Zorita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in El Salvador's zone, Jaime Ferman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal and Jaime Ferman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ricardo Zorita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Ferman in the 46th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Moises Fernandino was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Moises Fernandino had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. A collision led to De hijgende Hertjes getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Dorian Mangueira hit a great ball. When Jaime Ferman came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the De hijgende Hertjes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaime Ferman couldn't finish the play. Ricardo Zorita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Ferman in the 61st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Ferman in the 63rd minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brian Charles T. Hansen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ricardo Zorita was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Abram Luque fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 84th minute of the match Paco Murillo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ricardo Zorita skillfully saved the ball. Ricardo Zorita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brian Charles T. Hansen, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Abram Luque hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match.
