Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Andreas Hansen having to make a save. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. In the 84th match minute, FC Nordsjælland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aage Thegler to maneuver through the defense. Tomas Illescass short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Andreas Hansen to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 88 minutes into the game, Tomas Illescas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Nordsjælland the free kick. In the 89th minute, Tomas Illescas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yulian Kichukov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
