If Andrézinho das Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Fabiano Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 29 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montenegro. 41 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Adilson de Alcântara came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 43 minutes into the game, Adilson de Alcântara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Esperança FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After 44 played minutes Esperança FC got a freekick which was hit by Adilson de Alcântara. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís de Moraes in the 50th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabiano Saldanha made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Felix Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 55th minute, but Fabiano Saldanha got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Esperança FC hanging dry this time. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabiano Saldanha having to interfere. In the 60th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Sebastián Puig to maneuver through the defense. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fabiano Saldanha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 67th match minute, Esperança FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bastian Røyrvik to maneuver through the defense. In the 89th minute Andrézinho das Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 91st minute Esperança FC were awarded a corner. Luís de Moraes went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Luís de Moraes almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. A collision led to Esperança FC getting a freekick after 92 minutes play.
