In the 11th minute, Velasco Rollan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 16th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Carvallo to maneuver through the defense. Velasco Rollan took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marino Malet to make the kick off. 56 minutes had been played when some careless play by Uruguay's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Niva Bruna was slow to take the kick. During this time Sociedad Anónima's players had a chance to rest. Sociedad Anónima's Niva Bruna was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Joaquin Gayoso in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Velasco Rollan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. After 93 played minutes Sociedad Anónima got a freekick which was hit by Sengrat Nazario. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Velasco Rollan in the 95th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, Sociedad Anónima could leave the field as winners, despite Uruguay having more of the ball for most of the match.
