The crowd rose to their feet as River tu grato nombre's Stacey Banning slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marcos Cotilla. That made the score 4-1 after 34 minutes of play. Tomas Berganza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Mihran Sarkisyan fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored River tu grato nombre's protests and gave Mihran Sarkisyan a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Panama booed when River tu grato nombre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mihran Sarkisyan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eulalio Francesco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Marcos Cotilla made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stacey Banning in the 46th minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stacey Banning stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dylan Sarmiento hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Isidoro Sarmiento during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
