After a rather tough play, São Paulo Leste F.C.'s David Coutinho got a free kick in the 5th minute. Ernani de Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. São Paulo Leste F.C.'s Emerson Leão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 7th minute of play. Daniel Zorita scored 1-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emerson Leão, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 18th minute. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Bruninho Brito sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The São Paulo Leste F.C. fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when São Paulo Leste F.C.'s Edvard Gråberg looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 29 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Emerson Leão made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruninho Brito, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gao Kun Mo in the 37th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The São Paulo Leste F.C. fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when São Paulo Leste F.C.'s Gao Kun Mo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The supporters of Ecuador booed when São Paulo Leste F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edvard Gråberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-2 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edvard Gråberg's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. A collision led to São Paulo Leste F.C. getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Stanislaw Turacki hit a great ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruninho Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Emerson Leão made a huge save. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Coutinho in the 80th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Edvard Gråberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. After 94 played minutes São Paulo Leste F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Stanislaw Turacki. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because São Paulo Leste F.C. had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
