After a rather tough play, GuateFortín's Roberto Trotta got a free kick in the 13th minute. Colombia's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Axel Montenegro in the 16th minute. In the 21st minute Abram Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nery Pumpido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nery Pumpido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abram Sarmiento, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After some careless play in the GuateFortín defense, Abram Sarmiento kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nery Pumpido. The GuateFortín fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nery Pumpido should have stopped the shot. GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abram Sarmiento in the 27th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when William Villanueva made the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Colombia's Abram Sarmiento slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nery Pumpido. That made the score 2-2 after 53 minutes of play. If William Villanueva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A throw-in in the 83rd minute of the game was made by Luis Cazalla with Pascual Carballar as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. A collision led to GuateFortín getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Mario Gomez hit a great ball. 89 minutes into the game, GuateFortín's Zico Zellier nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pedro Manzanares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-3. In the 93rd minute, Luis Cazalla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
