Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Célio Mangueira kicked off to start the match. After a rather tough play, Joinville Esporte Clube's Enéas Arantes got a free kick in the 8th minute. In the game's 9th minute Panama's Abraham Alguacil took a hard shot from long distance, a kick which went into the net just to the right of Hélio Furtado and thus the score was 0-1. Hélio Furtado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 13th minute of play. In the 14th minute Panama were awarded a corner. Abraham Alguacil went to the cornerflag to take it. Abraham Alguacil made a great header on Panama's corner, it was just that Joinville Esporte Clube's Hélio Furtado managed to reach the ball for a save. Alex Cambeiro hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Bebeto Leal kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bebeto Leal in the 26th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Abraham Alguacil ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hélio Furtado was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Júlio Valladares during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 32 played minutes Joinville Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Júlio Valladares. The audience was convinced that Tomas Berganza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hélio Furtado was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. After some careless play in the Joinville Esporte Clube defense, Isidoro Sarmiento kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hélio Furtado. The Joinville Esporte Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hélio Furtado should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Joinville Esporte Clube's zone, Isidoro Sarmiento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélio Furtado came out of the goal and Isidoro Sarmiento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Panama were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Tomas Berganza made the kick off in the second half. Hélio Furtado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 53rd minute. In the 54th minute Miguel Miralles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélio Furtado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isidoro Sarmiento blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hélio Furtado having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Joinville Esporte Clube's zone, Abraham Alguacil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélio Furtado came out of the goal and Abraham Alguacil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tomas Berganza struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Hélio Furtado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. In the 66th minute, Abraham Alguacil ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hélio Furtado was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Hélio Furtado made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Isidoro Sarmiento sent off a good shot on target. Osvaldo Brodel hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Hélio Furtado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isidoro Sarmiento, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Dário Pontes's late challenge caught a Panama's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dário Pontes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 72nd match minute, Joinville Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dário Pontes to maneuver through the defense. In the 77th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Panama fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Tomas Berganza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Abraham Alguacil took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hélio Furtado. Hélio Furtado dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. In the 86th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joinville Esporte Clube's Hélio Furtado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Joinville Esporte Clube from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Panama booed when Joinville Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bebeto Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th minute, Tomas Berganza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
