Julian Murillo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aimé Holtmann having to make a save. In the 23rd minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aimé Holtmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peru's attentive Efraim Gilabert managed to snatch the ball when Zhou Yan Qi made a throw-in in the 36th minute of the game. Aimé Holtmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Artemio Lucian scored 1-0 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rolando Noboa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julian Murillo was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Aimé Holtmann in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Benigno Osmundo in the 55 minute of the game. Anthony Alvarado kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Peru's Aimé Holtmann threw himself towards the right post 61 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luz Tejedor, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agapito Diaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. 90 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Trendafil Dzhendov came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Peru's Rafael Gallo in 93 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot.
