Alexandru Chiriloaie's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexandru Chiriloaie helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Juventus Țiu getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Alexandru Chiriloaie hit a great ball. 17 minutes into the match, Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Manuel Boteanu. Juventus Țiu's Manuel Boteanu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Lautaro Navarro in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Ernest Bărcăuan made in the 21st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Honduras's Luca Espinar. Sebastian Villa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alexandru Chiriloaie was shown his second yellow card after 23 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. When Ernest Bărcăuan fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Juventus Țiu's protests and gave Ernest Bărcăuan a yellow card for diving instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edmundo Espiga made a kick off. In the 54th minute Sebastian Villa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marius Bălașa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dorin Popeneciu kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. In the 59th minute, Daniel Mihele hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 62nd match minute, Juventus Țiu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mugurel Buda to maneuver through the defense.
