The referee showed Mădălin Cangeopol the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee ignored Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s protests and gave Romeo Ieremia a yellow card for diving instead. Romeo Ieremia hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute Mădălin Cangeopol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Laurențiu Gaciu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 23rd minute of play forced Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s goalkeeper Laurențiu Gaciu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 26th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Laurențiu Gaciu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wesley Sneijder in the 37th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Mexico booed when Tractorul Satulung -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeo Ieremia didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute of the match Joel Gaona sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Laurențiu Gaciu skillfully saved the ball. Mădălin Cangeopol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mădălin Cangeopol was the one to do the kick off. Lautaro Mancebo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute, Mexico's Joel Gaona dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. In the 61st minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laurențiu Gaciu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s zone, Alberto Tafalla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Laurențiu Gaciu came out of the goal and Alberto Tafalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Tractorul Satulung -MM- booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Facundo Cadaval didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mădălin Cangeopol's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. 76 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mexico's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Heintje Gamarra was slow to take the kick. During this time Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s players had a chance to rest. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Laurențiu Gaciu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s goalkeeper Laurențiu Gaciu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 83 minutes in the game, Joel Gaona fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Laurențiu Gaciu having to interfere. Felix Luque kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Alberto Tafalla hit a great ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mexico eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
