The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Daniël Isla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's goalkeeper Daniël Isla, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, David Antunes managed to get in a good position for a shot. αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's supporters rose to their feet, but David Antunes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 10th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniël Isla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 11th minute of play forced αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's goalkeeper Daniël Isla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniël Isla having to interfere. αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's Daniël Isla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniël Isla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the game, αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's Filomeno Bladi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 27th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniël Isla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniël Isla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Sancho in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Daniël Isla saved αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ from getting behind. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 31st minute of the match αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. David Antunes ran over to the corner to take the kick. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Camilo Gisbert made in the 52nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Luis Andino immediately put the ball in play. After 57 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ecuador! Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filomeno Bladi in the 61st minute of play. 63 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. David Antunes was slow to take the kick. During this time αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in David Antunes almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Filomeno Bladi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Daniël Isla made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Felix Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Daniël Isla tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 71 minutes, George Lucas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's supporters crossed their fingers, but George Lucas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Filomeno Bladi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. 75 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. David Antunes was slow to take the kick. During this time αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's players had a chance to rest. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Daniël Isla tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Camilo Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. The throw-in from Luis Andino in the 83rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's Elias Romelio. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Don Cañon in the 85th minute of the match. In the 88thth minute of the game Don Cañon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ were awarded a corner in the 90th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. David Antunes took the corner. 91 minutes into the game, Elias Romelio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. In the 91st match minute, αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elias Romelio to maneuver through the defense. Daniël Isla made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 94th minute. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Don Cañon in the 96th minute of the match. αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by David Antunes in the 98th minute. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
