The corner ended in Felix Montes almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Majachun's Gianluigi Donnarumma did a great save. 13 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Remigiusz Cisek. Majachun's Gianluigi Donnarumma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 16th minute of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfred Pankowski in the 21st minute of the match. Gianluigi Donnarumma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Remigiusz Cisek in the 24th minute of play. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Gianluigi Donnarumma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Remigiusz Cisek sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gianluigi Donnarumma. Gianluigi Donnarumma dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 91 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Stefan Niziolek was slow to take the kick. During this time Majachun's players had a chance to rest. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Remigiusz Cisek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Majachun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Radomir Piglowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Majachun.
